Mr Brendan Cummings is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Wellington Eye Clinic in Dublin, specialising in laser vision correction, implantable contact lenses (ICL), and premium cataract surgery. He also has expertise in oculoplastic surgery.

His practice focuses on helping patients achieve greater independence from glasses and contact lenses through carefully selected, evidence-based treatments using advanced surgical techniques and technology. Mr Cummings graduated in Medicine from University College Dublin in 2015 and completed his specialist ophthalmology training through the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and the Irish College of Ophthalmologists.

His postgraduate qualifications include Fellowship of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO), Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in Ophthalmology (FRCSI Ophth), and Fellowship of the World College of Refractive Surgery & Visual Sciences (FWCRS).

Professional Leadership and Education:

Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Cummings is actively involved in ophthalmic education and professional organisations in Ireland and internationally.

He is an elected Council Member of the United Kingdom & Ireland Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons (UKISCRS) and serves on the Education Committee of the American-European Congress of Ophthalmic Surgery (AECOS). He is also a member of the International Council of the International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS).

Mr Cummings serves on the Editorial Board of Cataract & Refractive Surgery Today Europe, contributing to the exchange of clinical knowledge and developments in cataract and refractive surgery.

Education and surgical training are an important part of his work. He runs the Irish College of Ophthalmologists (ICO) Microsurgical Skills Course, helping ophthalmologists develop fundamental microsurgical techniques, and is faculty on the annual Oculoplastic Masterclass at University College Cork (UCC).
