ICL Eye Surgery
Freedom from glasses, even if laser isn’t an option
Why ICL at Wellington Eye Clinic
We believe vision correction is more than a procedure; it’s a transformation. Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) surgery corrects vision when laser may not be suitable. It offers a safe, reversible treatment for higher prescriptions and thin corneas, designed around your lifestyle, your eyes and your goals.

What is ICL surgery?
ICL surgery places a tiny, flexible lens inside your eye, behind the iris and in front of your natural lens. The lens works with your eye to correct short-sightedness, long-sightedness or astigmatism.
Keeps your natural lens intact
The lens is invisible to others
Can be removed if ever needed
Provides clear, stable vision without glasses or contact lenses
Many people refer to it as a permanent contact lens or lens implant for vision correction, but unlike standard lenses, it remains in your eye and functions 24/7.
Who is ICL for?
ICL is ideal for people who:
Are aged 18–45
Have moderate to high prescriptions
Have been told they are not a candidate for laser vision correction due to thin corneas or dry eyes
Want a reversible procedure with quick recovery
If you have been told that LASIK or PRK isn’t suitable, ICL may be the answer.
ICL vs Laser Vision Correction
Both treatments deliver excellent results, but they are designed for different eyes.
